My professional photography career started as digital cameras became the norm but I’ve been taking photos of the people and places I love, since back when film was grainy and each exposure counted.
Life seems to move faster now. We’re all so busy. That has become, more and more as I get older, why I love photography. Photos slow you down. A good photo gives you a chance to step back, out of the rush. Just for a moment it can take you to another place, time or feeling. Kids grow up, weddings pass by in a blink. Investing in quality photographs keeps those memories fresh and keep you connected to what really matters.
I graduated from Linfield College with a focus in Spanish and Education. After 7 years teaching in low-income bilingual schools I was burnt out while also missing and wanting more from photography. So, I left teaching and started this business in 2008.
I’m a self-taught photographer and being a people person first, my focus is always to keep my clients feeling comfortable and at ease in front of my lens. This candid, documentary style keeps my photos honest, natural.
I love providing folks with great photos of themselves and their loved ones. My clients, in return, keep me going by referring me to their friends and family. I hope to hear from you so you can join the club of happy, well photographed folks. Read some of their referrals below! (They are so kind.)
What can I say? Sara is exactly who we dreamed of when we started considering photographers for our casual, fall wedding. My husband and I are pretty unique. We don’t have very many pictures together where one or both of us aren’t making a goofy face. We were looking for someone that could make our wedding photos look just as natural. We were also looking for someone who would feel more like a guest at our wedding than a stranger.
After our first meeting with Sara, we stopped looking. We were sold after looking through her beautiful portfolios and fell in love with her candid approach.
We have recently received all of our wedding photos and we couldn’t be happier with our decision. Sara makes you feel incredibly comfortable and at-ease, like a friend, which makes it really easy to get natural looking photos.
I can’t recommend Sara enough.
We’ve used Sara twice now to capture photos of our family and two young boys. Each time we have been more than satisfied with our experience and the quality of photos received.
Sara is incredibly personable, flexible, and strives to provide a positive experience throughout the session. Most importantly, she’s provided us with beautiful photos of our family!
We wholeheartedly recommend her and will continue to use her services throughout the years.
Sara was our wedding photographer in September 2014 in downtown Portland. She was fantastic! Very low key, and managed to quietly capture so many things that I missed or, sadly, already forgot about.
She took beautiful group and detail photos. Many of the photos made me laugh out loud (my friends getting ready – total chaos and cuteness, and funny pics of their hair/make up detritus.)
I highly recommend her. She was just one person and she managed to take amazing photos of EVERYONE, in lots of different light situations. She really found and photographed all of the fun. Thank you, Sara!
We have used Sara to take family photos for us twice now. We are not a photogenic family, yet somehow we always love our pictures from Sara. She does a great job of making you feel comfortable and natural. I’ve been so impressed with her ability to capture my family’s personality.
I’ve recommended her to many of my friends and wouldn’t hesitate to book her again myself!
I’m giving a rave review to Sara for her talent! So easy to work with and flexible, and made our situation work: a combo of family and professional head shots in one shoot! The pictures are beautiful – thank you for providing black and white options too!
I highly recommend Sara’s work to anyone looking for a creative eye.
