My style both in portraits and weddings is as an observer. I stand back and watch a reception using my long lens or I follow a toddler around their house. I try to stay out of the way and let people be themselves.

Since starting my own business 10 years ago, I have photographed hundreds of unique couples and families. Some people feel more comfortable when given guidance and in that sense my ‘style’ changes to support each client’s confidence in front of the camera.  I come to each session with some ideas but they are quickly blended to fit the scene and each unique client.

My style is very candid, fluid and natural.  I do ‘pose’ people in a certain scene and give them an idea of what I’m looking for but I don’t tell them how to tilt their chin. This keeps my images fresh and relaxed.

My goal is for an image not to be perfect but to be honest. I believe looking at an honest photo helps folks cherish their connections, both in this moment and decades from now.

“An observer (and ex elementary teacher) armed with a

camera, Sara generally takes a “watch and be amazed”

approach when it comes to photography.

She is adept at quickly becoming BFFs with your little ones

giving her unique access to those personal, natural moments.

The proof is in the portrait: toddlers vogueing for the camera,

newborns being cuddled by mom and dad, families gathered

together, and the laughter and fun of playtime

are just some of the lovely, awww-worthy photos on Sara’s site.”

I love working here in the northwest but am also quick to travel. I have photographed destination weddings from the Austrian Alps, to the Colorado Rockies, to Hawaii’s beautiful beaches. After 100 plus weddings in my career I still honestly really enjoy each wedding I photograph. I attribute this to limiting the number of weddings I shoot each year. Too many and you lose sight of the magic.

It is an honor to witness couples committing to each other. I love being able to create beautiful images that will help folks remember and cherish their wedding day. Weddings are a huge life event and great photos help keep you connected to the magic of the beginning, the people and couple that you are right now and the community that surrounds you with love.

Congratulations! Let’s meet up and talk about your big day!
